Dieting without Hunger

Lots of women get terrified thinking of a weight loss diet. The notion of dieting in many people's minds is closely connected with tortures of hunger, hard dieting restrictions and the feeling of guilt if a person fails to keep all the restrictions. Are there any diets that can enable us to avoid hunger sufferings? Can we eat, keep a diet and feel saturated at the same time?

The amount of food you eat is determined by different factors. Our appetite is affected by such factors as food taste and smell, weather conditions and the level of physical activity. One of the most important things that influence our appetite is the feeling of fullness. Our brain cells get the information about saturation from the stomach and send an impulse to stop eating. But the feeling of fullness depends not only on the quantity of food but also on its kind. This should be taken into account if you want to lose weight without being hungry all the time.

The main rule of the "hungerless" diet is eating low calorie food so that if contains minimum calories per 100 grams of food. It will enable you to stop eating due to the feeling of fullness and not to go over the number of calories allowed. If you want to lose weight you should give preference to fruit and vegetables and dishes made of them including soups, salads and so on. Lots of water and dietary fiber contained in fruit and vegetables will make your stomach full providing you with the feeling of saturation. High calorie dishes on the contrary contain little water and fiber but much fat which will prevent you from losing weight.

It's easy to turn a high calorie dish into a low calorie one. For instance, just give preference to lean meat and add some vegetables into it. If you are making a sandwich take lettuce, a piece of cucumber and tomato with some greens and your sandwich will turn into healthy food packed with vitamins and providing you with the feeling of fullness.

Most soups and salads are good for health and can be a part of a weight loss diet as well. But be careful with fat meat, sour cream and salad dressings, fat won't let you lose much weight, as you know.

Food which gives rapid saturation and is rich in dietary fiber and water include:

  • fruit and vegetables
  • pasta made of hard wheat
  • rye bread
  • cereals
  • lean fish and seafood
  • chicken without skin and fat
  • lean meat
  • low fat dairy products.

Due to dietary fiber and water this food will make you feel full quickly and get few calories at the same time. This food will enable you to lose weight without suffering from hunger. Besides, this kind of food is slowly digested so you won't wish to eat very soon again. You will eat little and seldom and lose weight! Choose nourishing food rich in water and fiber and you will never feel very hungry. You will keep a diet, eat much food and lose weight at the same time.
